Diction is made by FJ Labs, based in the United Kingdom. These terms are the agreement between you and FJ Labs when you download or use the app. If you do not accept them, please do not use Diction.
FJ Labs grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Diction on any Apple device you own or control, as allowed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy the app, sell it, rent it, take it apart or try to derive its source code, except where the law says you may do so regardless of this clause.
Apple takes every payment, not us. We never see your card details. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue a refund ourselves, though if something has gone wrong please write to us and we will help you put the request together.
Definitions are adapted from Wiktionary (en.wiktionary.org) and are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). Anything you share out of Diction that contains an adapted definition carries that licence with it.
Everything else in the app, including its name, artwork, themes, example sentences, code and design, belongs to FJ Labs and is protected by copyright.
Diction is a vocabulary app for general interest. It is not a professional dictionary, a reference for legal or medical use, or a substitute for teaching. Definitions and etymologies are edited for brevity and may be incomplete. Please do not rely on them where accuracy really matters.
Do not use Diction to break the law, to interfere with the app or its servers, or to resell or redistribute its content as your own.
Diction is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, FJ Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using the app, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid for Diction in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to support or maintain Diction. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any warranty Apple is obliged to give, you may tell Apple and they will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation at all.
You can stop using Diction at any time by deleting it. We may end this licence if you breach these terms. We may also stop selling or supporting Diction, in which case we will give reasonable notice in the app where we can.
We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and continuing to use Diction after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of your local law.
Write to support.diction.app@gmail.com. We read everything.
